This project began with six young Indonesian men belonging to the local environmentalist group, FKPA BANDUNG, and one Scottish woman (Val) me. I worked as a volunteer for four months in the summer, finding the Java people friendly, peaceful and respectful, the children are delightful.  We now have a Scottish committee and help from the Inverurie Rotary Club.

We are desperately trying to overcome the destruction caused by the Tsunami and the more recent earthquakes in May & June 2006.

When it was time for me to return home I knew I had to continue to do something to help these unfortunate children and I need your financial support to help keep the children alive.

Our main objective is to help the children who have been hit by these disasters.

Their lives have changed beyond recognition with them now living in makeshift shelters and tents.  Whilst this was reasonably acceptable in the dry season, it will prove to be devastating in the rainy season which lasts for six months.  Already the young and old are becoming desperately ill with flu. Sadly this often turns out to be a killer as their immune system is so low because of their poor diet.

We are fundraising to construct a building from the rain where the children can play and learn and families can make use of until their own houses can be rebuilt. We also want to supply the children with vitamins, milk, school books, pencils and school uniforms as without these things the children are not allowed to attend school without these very basic things that so many of us take for granted.
